We are offering a waterfowl hunting special for all Backwater Waterfowl clients. Any goose hunt booked between Nov. 5 and Nov. 24 or a duck/goose hunt on a week day between Nov. 5 and Dec. 9, the price will be discounted 15%. This is a great time to get in on some early season waterfowl hunting as the birds arrive and you catch that good foggy morning.
We have one spot available for a group this Sunday 11/6 (opening weekend) due to a cancellation.
From what we have seen in Canada and scouting the last couple days on the Texas prairie, I can say that the biologists were spot on with their predictions. The amount of ducks seen while in Canada and through the Dakotas was unbelievable. The snow geese had an excellent hatch with most adult pairs having five to six juveniles following close behind. Specklebellys also had a great hatch and it seems they beat me south as they were here before I got back. Duck numbers on the prairie are solid with pintail, teal, gadwall and widgeon at the forefront and with the front pushing through this Thursday they should only improve for the opener. As always I can reiterate how we manage our properties. We believe the more water, the better and with things dry throughout Texas the ones who have water will have the birds. Second crop rice is starting to be cut throughout Colorado and Wharton County and we have our wells pumping water as we speak. Our properties look to be in tip top shape going into season.
We are steadily booking hunts and a couple of dates have already filled up so please get your dates in so we can accommodate everyone.
